We again start in Newberry on Saturday February 12th and want to thank our host the Zellar family and the Village of Newberry. Newberry is one of Michigans’ favorite snowmobile communities and is home to some of the earliest snow in the state. The Newberry Snow X is presented by Newberry Area Tourism Association, Zellar’s Village Inn & Newberry Motors.
Zellar’s Village Inn is our base away from the track (which is across the street about ¼ of a mile away). They will be our Race Headquarters with Registration check in. Registration will take place in the banquet room Friday from 7-10pm. We welcome back Bowman Gas as the sponsor of the 120cc kid’s races. When the race is over join the racers for the After Race Party gathering at Z’s Lounge inside the Zellar’s Village Inn. Racing starts at 9:30am, $10 Tickets at the gate!
Enjoy the MSXRA series opener Newberry Snow X Races.

Snowman
Eastern U.P., Michigan – Newberry – January 23, 2010 — Newberry
Snowman — This was a fun community project we did in Newberry
today. It was awesome! Before we were done people were stopping by
to take pictures of our snowman. It’s about 16′ tall and about 30′
feet around. It’s located on the west side of Newberry Avenue/M-123,
just the Police Post and two blocks south of the High School. —

Good afternoon,
Just a note to let you know the snow is still good in our neck of the woods. We’ve had a group in and they’re really happy with the amount of snow we have.
The trails are still okay. It’s 3:30 pm and the temp is 30, it’s really beautiful.
I’ve asked for a report from those that are here. I’ll let y’all know what they say a little later.
Delain

After the beautiful weather we had Tuesday, our snow gauge went from 9″ Wednesday to 16″ this morning. Sitting in an open field it is exposed to both the sun and wind. Local trail reports (Seney and Grand Marais) are encouraging. Yesterday the trails north and west were reported to be in good condition from sledders staying with us and those visiting the North Store down the road.
Enjoy the weekend and ride safe,
Nicole

Thanks Ben from Paradise for the shot of the Paradise groomer. TASA OWES A BIG THANKS AND A THUMBS UP TO THE PARADISE GROOMERS!!! During this past week, Paradise (with blessings from the DNR) took one of their groomers through that swampy area between CR 500 and the Falls on the TASA trail! Their equipment weighs a lot less than TASA’s so they were able to get in there and help set it up for TASA. Hopefully it will be set enough that TASA can start grooming this section ourselves this weekend.
SO ON BEHALF OF TASA AND EVERYONE WHO RAILS THE TRAILS; HATS OFF TO PARADISE!!!

Photo taken 12/5/07 Groomer Dan Clementz on the South TASA trail, making a swath so the guys could get in with a 4 WD truck to finish a few signs. The snow was so deep, even after going through with the groomer, that the 4WD truck got stuck. Luckily they had a strap and Groomer Dan could pull the truck out. It ended up with all 3 guys in the groomer to get to the area to sign (instead of trying the truck again!). Thanks to Buzz Medalis (one of TASA’s groomers) for the photo!
